Ahead of the fifth edition of the Indian Premier League, Kings XI Punjab and Rajasthan Royals made a fresh bid to settle their differences with the Board of Control for Cricket in India. At the IPL governing council meeting, also attended by the Board president N Srinivasan, held here on
Wednesday, the two franchises made a presentation to settle all pending issues amicably.
There was no immediate decision but it was learnt that the Board's response was positive towards the two franchises.
There was a lot of acrimony between the two franchises and the Board when the latter decided to terminate their IPL contracts in 2010. However, both Kings XI and Rajasthan Royals went to court and got reinstated in the league just before the 2011 IPL player auction.
Sachin in injury scare
Mumbai Indians had an injury scare when Sachin Tendulkar left the field with what looked like an injured finger at the score of 16. Tendulkar, playing his first match in India after completing a century of centuries, was hit on the gloves when a Bollinger delivery reared up off a short of length. The MI opener was looking in good touch and playing steadily when his innings was cut short. He hit one four and a six in his 15-ball innings. Last week, the batsman had gone to London to check up with a specialist on his right big toe.
