MS Dhoni (left) and Virender Sehwag reportedly have differences. It seems to be hurting the Indian team as they are on a downward spiral. India’s next match is on Sunday. File photo
A day after dismissing as “exaggerated” reports of a rift between skipper MS Dhoni and his deputy, Virender Sehwag, the BCCI appears to have realised how deep the differences run and the damage they can do.

Senior board members Thursday discussed the issue with the support staff
accompanying the team in Australia. They also reportedly spoke to Dhoni and Sehwag, who have taken jibes at each other publicly. The feud has left Team India on the verge of elimination from the CB Series finals. Sri Lanka is the third team in the competition.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India could ask the two to address a clear-the-air press conference during the training session at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Friday. Or, there could be a statement put out in the media to that effect. http://www.hindustantimes.com/Images/HTEditImages/Images/24feb_pg-01b.jpg

HT was the first to report how bad things were within the team over the rotation of the openers, including Sachin Tendulkar. The distraction has hurt, with the defeats in the last two matches pushing India to the bottom of the points table.

India take on Australia in Sydney on February 26.
