When the Chennai Super Kings released their pre-auction roster, there was one glaring miss in the champion side --- the lack of a domestic pacer. It was predicted that the side would bid for an Indian seamer in the auction to fill the missing link. But the team management did not raise its hand for one.
Instead, a few days after the auction, CSK announced the signing of pacers Imitiaz Ahmed, Ankit Rajpoot (both from Uttar Pradesh), Mohit Sharma (Haryana), Ronit More (Karnataka), and a left-arm spinner, R Karthikeyan from Tamil Nadu. While Ahmed (37 wickets in nine matches), Rajpoot (31 wickets in seven) and Sharma (37 wickets in 8 eight matches) made a mark in the recent Ranji Trophy, it is Sharma who has made the most of the opportunity. With nine wickets from seven games, Sharma has revelled for the former champions.
