Right-arm medium pacer Sreesanth, 30, has been courting controversies ever since he joined the Indian side. The latest one was the 2008 incident when Harbhajan Singh slapped him after his Mumbai Indians team lost to Sreesanth’s Kings XI Punjab side at the spinner’s homeground, Mohali.
has sparingly played in the Indian Twenty20 league this season. Of the 15 matches played by Rajasthan Royals, he has figured only in seven. He has played 27 Tests and 53 ODIs but has not been selected for India since the 2011 tour of England.
The Rajasthan Royals team management kept Sreesanth out of the playing 11 for both their games against Mumbai, including Wednesday’s match at the Wankhede that Royals lost.
Haryana off-spinner Ajit Chandila, 29, and Ankit Chavan, a Mumbai batsman, the other two Rajasthan Royals players arrested by the Delhi police in Mumbai, also did not play in Wednesday’s game.

Rajasthan Royals, co-owned by actor Shilpa Shetty, expressed surprise over the development. “We have been informed that three of our players have been called in for investigation on spot-fixing in matches. We are completely taken by surprise. We do not have the full facts at this point and are unable to confirm anything,” she said.
