The youngest star from Bollywood’s Kapoor clan, Ranbir Kapoor has dance moves in his genes. But the prospect of performing live at this year’s IIFA Awards makes him a little nervous. “I haven’t danced in almost two and a half years,” says the actor. “Rockstar (his last release, 2011) had no dance

numbers and in Barfi!, I play a deaf and mute character, so there’s no chance. My body is a little rusty and it hurts since I’ve started rehearsing.”
At the awards ceremony, RK will be dancing to his songs from Rockstar, Chillar Party (2011) and says he has a surprise in store too. He’s also glad that actor-director Prabhudheva is choreographing his moves.
“I haven’t ever had the opportunity to work with him in a film, so I’m really happy that I get to work with him here,” says Ranbir. Now onto the last schedule of Barfi!, directed by Anurag Basu, Ranbir hopes the film will turn out the way it promised when he read the script. But he has full faith in his director: “Anurag has great vision. Even if you provide him with just 30 per cent content, he’ll give you a great entertainer.”

This will be his second film with Priyanka Chopra after Anjaana Anjaani (2010).
“We’re trying to break form and content in a particular manner with this film,” he explains. “Priyanka plays an autistic character, and I play a deaf and mute guy. But it’s a rom-com that becomes a murder mystery — all set in the 1970s, and made in a very Roberto Benigni way. I hope we can pull it off.”
Ranbir is also working on Ayan Mukerji’s Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani with ex-flame Deepika Padukone. The film, produced by Karan Johar, is an out and out romantic movie, he says.
“We’ve completed just 40 per cent of the film so far, but the schedules have been tough. We’ve been shooting in extreme conditions — Manali was minus five degrees while Udaipur was 48 degrees,” says Ranbir. “But it’s great to work with Ayan again, and this is my second film with Deepika. Ayan is really trying to make the love story of this generation and I hope we’re successful in doing that.”
