Having a bank of hit songs to their credit has helped a lot of actors rake in some extra money. Performing to them at various events, weddings and parties around the country is, in fact, a bigger source of income for some than the movies they act in. Huma Qureshi is one such actor. For her first stage performance, she reportedly took home a whopping sum, unheard of for newcomers. A source says, "Recently Huma performed in Hyderabad. It was her first stage performance and she was paid Rs. 35 lakh for it. It's probably one of the highest prices paid to a newcomer."

Last year, Huma made her Bollywood debut with Gangs Of Wasseypur (GOW), which won her critical acclaim. Before that, she had been a known face in the advertising circuit, appearing in ads with Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan and others.The young actor has had several other offers to perform at award functions and make appearances at events. About the performance in Hyderabad, the source says, "She danced to the song O womaniya from GOW and some Telugu songs.

The organisers got the words of the former changed to 'O humaniya'. The song had a westernised flavour, and the dance moves were a fusion of hip-hop and Bollywood." Asked to comment, Huma said she loves dancing. "This was my first stage performance, and I had a great time. Hyderabad and its people have been very warm to me. I never trained in dance formally, but as a kid, I would imitate Bollywood dance moves. I've grown up watching Madhuri Dixit, Sridevi and Karisma Kapoor dance, and I really admire their grace and beauty."

Currently, Huma is looking forward to Ek Thi Daayan, which releases in April. She's doing a solo dance number, 'Miyan mithu. She will also be seen in D Day, which releases later this year.
