Actor Soha Ali Khan has her hands full this year with some interesting films like Tigmanshu Dhulia’s Sahib Biwi Aur Gangster Returns and Deepa Mehta’s Midnight’s Children. Best known for her performances in films like Rang De Basanti and Khoya Khoya Chand, Soha is looking forward to a promising year ahead.

Talking about Sahib Biwi Aur Gangster Returns, she says, “I’m excited about it. The scale is much grander than the first one. It’s very gripping. There are lot more emotions in the second part.” Soha and Irrfan Khan are the new addition to the cast but she says it’s difficult to tell who stars opposite whom: “In terms of romance and who’s opposite who, it’s a little complicated to explain.” She further adds, “My character has an element of vulnerability to her but she’s a survivor.

She has an aura of innocence about her and sensuality as well. She’s from a wealthy family and represents modern aristocracy.” The 34-year-old is paired opposite Arshad Warsi in her first ever full on comic flick Jo Bhi Karva Lo, to be directed by Sameer Tiwari. Soha has taken inspiration from Salman Khan’s character in Dabangg for it. “It’s a comedy that I’m doing for the first time. I’m playing inspector Shanti Priya and I’m quite excited about it as I have never played a cop before. I have taken inspiration from Salman Khan’s Chulbul Pandey,” she admits.

Shifting focus to Deepa Mehta’s Midnight’s Children, another project in her kitty, Soha says, “It’s an ensemble cast. I play Jamila, Salim’s 17-year-old sister. She’s like a bulbul of Pakistan and goes on to become a very prominent singer. She’s quite self absorbed and has this competition going on with her brother.” Soha will also be seen in a small budget movie Chaar Phutiya Chokhre, a movie she says has a very strong script. Having ventured into television with fashion-based show What Not To Wear last year — the Indian version of the international makeover series we question her personal style statement to which she says, “I prefer being dressed in a classy way. I don’t like to make a loud statement but I like to be smartly dressed. Smart casual is my statement.”
