Nakodar nagar council (NC) has termed as illegal a trust formed by Punjabi singer Hans Raj Hans to manage Dera Lal Badshah. In a meeting chaired by NC president GS Dhiman, the civic body passed an unimanimous resolution to this effect on January 25. The resolution says that to form a trust on NC land is illegal and adds that recognition to the trust should be cancelled. The resolution also demands that requisite action be initiated against trust members.

The decision was taken after one Yash Pal, a resident of Mohalla Rishi Nagar, moved an application, which said that some people had illegally got a trust registered on NC land measuring 33 Kanal 7 Marla bearing khasra numbers 406, 407 and 410. The application added that the deed was registered on January 23.

NC executive officer Baljit Singh wrote in his comment that after demarcation of these khasra numbers by the revenue department, action would be taken as per norms on a report from engineering branch.

According to the registered deed of the trust, Hans Raj Hans was to be the sole managing trustee of Almast Bapu Lal Badshah Trust and would hold the office for life.

In July 2012, the NC had issued a notice to Dera Lal Badshah to remove encroachment on the NC land.
