"I am happy that financial help has started pouring in. Till now, I have received a total of Rs. 6 lakh from different agencies and non-government organisations," said Manohar Lal. Radio Spice 88, an online FM radio channel based in New Zealand, has contributed Rs. 1.05 lakh for the noble cause. Parminder Tiwana, a representative of the radio channel, on Monday visited the family and handed over a cheque of the said amount to Manohar Lal. The family has been spending about Rs. 1,000 daily on injections to bring down Kamal's iron level ahead of the surgery.
Manohar Lal, who sells newspapers for a living, was at a loss to arrange money for the treatment of Kamal, who required surgery costing Rs. 15-20 lakh. The donations have taken him closer to realise his dream of seeing his son get rid of the disease.
