Haryana Roadways’Chandigarh-Delhi Volvo bus service has been largely disrupted for the past three or four days, as most of its buses, which sported tinted windowpanes, were either challaned or impounded while entering Delhi. The department is now busy removing the dark films from the bus panes.
In wake of the Delhi gangrape, the Delhi police has disallowed all buses with tinted windowpanes; buses are required to do away with the shaded films over the panes.

Currently, only six Volvo buses from the Haryana Roadways stable, which have plain transparent glasses, are plying on the Chandigarh-Delhi route.

The Haryana transport department has temporarily suspended online and advance bookings for these buses. Haryana’s director general (DG) (Transport) Arun Kumar said, “Our buses were being challaned and even impounded for having black films on the windowpanes. We have started removing the shaded films, which may take another fortnight or so. We regret the
inconvenience caused to the travellers.”

Those travelling from the city to Delhi or Gurgaon are now a harassed lot. Also, the burden has now shifted to Punjab Volvo buses.

Talking to HT, Manimajra resident Sudhir Sharma said, “I had gone to the Sector-17 ISBT to book a ticket for my daughter, but the person at the ticket-counter refused. He said that buses are busy in getting black films removed.”
