Just when you thought winter was nearly over, the Met department has news for you. From February 7 onwards, the minimum temperature may fall by 2-3 degrees accompanied with fog over plains of northwest India, including Delhi, causing a chilly spell for two-three days. This was the most severe winter this time as the city witnessed the coldest day in 44 years when the maximum temperature plummeted to 9.8 degrees on January 4.

The Met department said during February 3 to 6, an active western disturbance is likely to affect northwest India and is likely to cause heavy snowfall over high reaches of J&K, HP and Uttarakhand, which will cause moderate rainfall over Delhi and neighbouring areas.

“It will get chillier than what it is now, but it won’t be that cold. The minimum temperature might go down a couple of more degrees but the worst of winter is over,” he said.
