A police officer said the victim lives with her parents in Sultanpuri area. On Wednesday evening, the victim's mother had sent her to a nearby grocery shop to buy some household items. The girl was walking towards the shop and was alone when Kumar stopped her.
He lured her by promising her chocolate and took her to a nearby park, the officer said.
"At an isolated place in the park, Kumar attempted to force himself on the girl. But when the girl screamed for help, Kumar beat her up and threatened her that he will kill her if she screamed," the officer added.
After raping the victim, police said, Kumar fled the scene. The girl reached home and narrated the incident to her parents, who then approached the police.
"Kumar initially pleaded innocence but on sustained interrogation confessed to raping the girl. He was later produced before a local court which sent to judicial custody," the officer added.
