A 60-year-old man was killed after a speeding car hit his scooter in north Delhi's Roop Nagar on Thursday night.

The incident took place around 8:30pm in front of a police picket at Shakti Nagar where policemen were checking vehicles. The deceased was identified as Harbhajan Singh, a resident of Pitampura.

According to a senior police officer, the officers posted at the police picket told them that they were regulating the traffic coming from Ghanta Ghar road side when they spotted a speeding and reckless driven Santro Car coming towards the picket. 

"Just 20 steps ahead of the picket, the Santro Car hit a scooter from behind following which the scooterist fell on the road. The victim sustained severe head injuries and was rushed to the Bara Hindu Rao hospital where doctors pronounced him brought dead," said the senior officer.
