The two Palghar girls who had been arrested by the police for their statements condemning the bandh following the death of Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray ‘have become more careful post the incident but are not scared’. The first class judicial magistrate Palghar accepted the closure report filed by the police on Thursday thereby formally dropping all charges against the girls.

Shaheen Dhada, who had posted the comment on Facebook, said, “ It was a horrifying experience and now I am finally relieved.” Dhada who had reopened her Facebook account some time later said, “While I am careful about what I put up on the networking site, I am not fearful about expressing myself.”

Rinu Srinivasan who was in the dock for ‘liking’ Dhada’s post said, “While whatever happened was wrong, I am not intimidated by it. The incident has only taught me to be more cautious about what is put up on social networking sites. I am very happy that the charges are finally dropped and we can get on with our lives.”

When asked about her plans for the future, Srinivasan, who likes to sing, said, “ I have collaborated with four friends to form a band titled ‘One Roof’ and we will be putting up a video on YouTube of a Tamil song called ‘Facebook mania’.” She added, however, that the song was not about the incident.

Dhada, meanwhile, plans to pursue an MBA in human resources.
