"Developed nations make planned efforts to generate revenue from wetlands by promoting eco-tourism, while thoughtless societies plunder them up with waste, toxins and other rubbish, which is killing the environment," he said.
"Several wetlands have been beautifully developed in Switzerland, Italy, Norway, Sweden, Czech Republic and the US. We can also restore Indian wetlands as these are avery important part of biodiversity. It is important to see that these are well-protected," PGSC director general RS Khandpur, said.
Painting, collage display and photography were various contests organised by the science city. Navneet Saini form Swami Sant Dass Public School Jalnadhar won the first prize in a photography competition. In the painting competition, Bhumika Shabra of BBM School Luhdiana was 1st.
Vaibhaib of Rayat International School Nawan Shehar won first prize in a collage-making competition.
