Disregarding the Punjab Vidhan Sabha speaker Charanjit Singh Atwal's warning on screening of Majithia's CD, Congress would distribute about ten thousand compact discs (CDs) in Moga.
Talking to reporters after filing nomination papers by party candidate Vijay Sathi here on Saturday, Punjab
Congress president Capt Amarinder Singh said that the party had made ten thousand copies of the CD, which were distributed among the people, and whosoever wanted to see it, screen it or play it were free to do so.
The PCC president maintained that it was important to screen and play the CD to show the actual face of this government to the people, who are already upset over the state of affairs. He said, the CD only reflected what was going on all over Punjab as even police were not feeling safe in the state anymore.
On the question of permission for playing the CD, Capt said that it was already on air and people had already downloaded and recorded it since it was shown live from the Vidhan Sabha. He pointed out that what Majithia said in assembly was telecast live with the Speaker's permission only, which was recorded by the people as soon as Youth Akali president and Majithia hurled abuses at Rana Gurjit Singh in the winter session of the Punjab assembly.
Asked about the issues the Congress will be raising in the byelection, Capt Amarinder accompanied by Congress Working Committee (CWC )Jagmeet Brar, former chief minister Rajinder Kaur Bhattal, Congress Legislative Party(CLP) leader Sunil Jakhar and Gurdaspur MP Partap Bajwa, said the anarchy and lawlessness and the state of economy will be raised at all stages.
Capt Amarinder said that he will be camping here from today right till the end of the election campaign on February 21, as after that no outsider would be allowed to stay in the constituency. He expressed confidence that the party would win by a good margin and would set a record against the government.
On issue of deployment of central security forces for the elections, Capt said that he had urged the Election Commission for the same and hoped positive outcome on the issue. He reiterated that the police were under tremendous pressure and it will be difficult for them to work freely since the Akalis are in power.
He also said that the party had also sought transfer of Moga SSP who has been posted here on the eve of elections. He said that there is a general impression that the SSP is close to the ruling establishment and has been on the field posting for last six years of the Akali government.
