The local police arrested five persons for beating up a staff member of the Chandigarh Industrial and Tourism Development Corporation (CITCO) petrol pump in Sector 56 here on Sunday.
The accused have been identified as Aman Sharma, Paramjit Singh, Jaspreet Singh and Mukesh Kumar, all residents of Sector 40, and Gurpreet Singh, a resident of Phase 1, SAS Nagar.

Giving details of the incident, SHO of the Sector-39 police station inspector Charanjit Singh Virk said the accused came to the petrol pump on Mitsubishi Lancer car for refueling. They allegedly started blowing horns and when petrol pump attendant Bunty Singh, who was attending another customer, asked them to wait for their turn, the accused allegedly attacked Bunty Singh, a resident of Nayagaon.

The accused also damaged the equipment installed at the petrol pump. The police was informed and the accused were arrested. A case under Sections 147, 148, 149, 452, 323, 427 and 506 of the IPC has been registered in the Sector-39 police station.
