"We are in talks with key people across BPO hubs in India. There is visible level of excitement among many to organise World BPO Day walks and runs. We expect at least 1,000 participants in each of these walks and runs that are supported by us," said Kapoor.
The event is being hosted in collaboration with Shine Job.com, a wing of Hindustan Times.
A celebration has been planned for top executives of the industry and their spouses at a 5-star hotel in Gurgaon.
Organisers of the event said that the BPO employees will also be provided legal counselling on issues like employment and attrition.
BPO employees seem to be looking forward to celebrate the occasion with much fanfare. "It is a pride for us not only because we also have been attributed a day in the name of World BPO day, but because the event is being organised in Gurgaon and not in Bangalore or Hyderabad," said an executive working with a city-based international call centre
The city has in the past two decades has turned into a BPO hub and is also known as the city of call centres.
Gurgaon has about 250 small medium and big BPO houses that employ more than one lakh people. Majority of the BPOs in Gurgaon have their clients based in the US and the UK.
