If your file is stuck at the Mantralaya, be prepared to wait a little longer. Only 10% of the 63,349 files destroyed in the fire at the state secretariat on June 21, 2012, have been reconstructed.

Important departments such as transport, home, medical education, relief and rehabilitation, school education and sport have not been able to recreate a single file, an RTI query revealed.

Filed by activist Anil Galgali, the RTI query revealed that till January 17, 2013, only 6,339 files had not been reconstructed.

"Officials have ignored chief minister Prithviraj Chavan's order," Galgali said. "This will hamper the government's functioning and also affect people who seek speedy disposal."

Only the Marathi language development (12) and self-employment (4) departments have carried out 100% reconstruction of their damaged documents.

The urban development retrieved 443 of the 5,926 files; and the general administration department managed to reconstruct 717 of the 19,719 files.

Chief secretary JK Banthia was not available for comment.
