Actor, director and producer Kamal Haasan on Monday announced that the Tamil version of Vishwaroopam would be released in Tamil Nadu on Thursday. He made the announcement in an open letter to the public, thanking chief minister J Jayalalithaa, the film fraternity, media and his fans for coming to his aid to get the film released.

After Haasan and Muslim groups objecting to some scenes in his film came to an agreement after he undertook to cut or mute seven scenes, the actor-director withdrew his petition against the TN government's ban in the Madras HC on Monday.
