Saroj Devi, mother of Jyoti Parkash, who along with his wife were exiled by Sarpanch from village Bithmara for marrying a girl of the same caste as that of his grandmother (Tonk, Balmiki), told the Hindustan Times in civil hospital on Monday.
"My son and daughter had shifted to Uklana after the threats from Sarpanch. The couple had come to meet me in the village on January 14 and Sarpanch came to know about their visit. He sent his men and attacked us. My arm was broken in the attack and since then I am in the hospital. The police is favouring the sarpanch by taking one-sided action. The police have registered case against my son Jyoti Prakash. On my complaint the police has booked my husband Roshan LaL instead of Sarpanch who had attacked me."
Rajat Kalsan, counsel for the aggrieved couple, on Monday said," The police is shielding the Sarpanch. Though a cross case has been registered, the Sarpanch is kept out of the list of accused."
SHO Jai Bhagwan while commenting on the case said," It is a family dispute. Roshan Lal ,father of the boy, was against the marriage with a girl of same gotra of her grandmother."
According to Jyoti Prakash they had met SSP and IGP , Hisar , but no action has been taken against the Sarpanch.
The couple was ousted from the village after their marriage because they declined to obey the diktat of Sarpanch for scrapping the marriage and treat one another as brother and sister.
