Attorney General GE Vahanvati offered to assist the court even as he said that the issue regarding lowering of a juvenile's age - from 18 to 16 - was looked into the by the Justice Verma Committee.
But, when the bench said it was to decide the issue on judicial side, Vahanvati responded: "The matter does need consideration. If the court wants to examine it, we will place our submission."

The action plan was finalised following a series of meetings that the cabinet secretary had recently with secretaries of seven ministries including home, women and child development. The ministries have been directed to monitor the implementation of these measures.
