A recklessly-driven tractor crushed to death an 11-year-old  boy, triggering protests in different parts of the NIT area on Monday evening.

The accident took place in Adarsh colony area. The boy was rushed to BK Hospital where the doctors declared him dead. The deceased was later identified as Dilshad of Adarsh colony area under SGM Nagar Police station.

After the accident, an irate mob caught hold of the driver and bashed him. The police were later called to arrest the accused.

Angry family members of the boy and other colony residents staged a  demonstration outside BK Hospital.
