Jaiprakash Singh, husband of Sandhya Singh, who the family said was murdered, says that while there is circumstantial evidence against his son, Raghuveer, the police are yet to come up with tangible evidence to support the case against him.
According to Singh, “The police are
suspecting him due to the circumstances that have come to light now. They should come up with tangible evidence.”
On the police interrogating his son, Singh said, “It is a part of investigation and they will have to detain him. If their suspicion proves right, and he is responsible for the act, we will have to accept it.”
He added, “I don’t think the murder was because of the fights Raghuveer and his mother had, a problem that had been there for some time. This was over money, the jewellery she had.”
Jaiprakash insisted that police should not limit their probe to Raghuveer and his friends. “There are many more people and the police have known about them from day one. They should not discount those possibilities.”
“My wife would never go with someone she doesn’t trust. The killer has to be someone close.”
On the theft that had taken place in the house, he said, “A masseuse had stolen the jewellery and clothes. She had confessed to her crime and then my wife kept her on the job. I am sure the police are investigating all angles.”
On the party that had reportedly taken place in his house, a day after Sandhya went missing, Jaiprakash said, “Raghuveer’s friend had given the party in the house. But Raghuveer said he didn’t attend the party. He had, by then, realised his mother was missing. When I reached home around midnight, his cousin Varun and a girlfriend Shreya were at home.”
Claiming that all was fine in the family, Jaiprakash said, “Just recently, we had decided that we will all shift to Indore and stay together and give this NRI colony flat on rent.”
