Next month, the Capital will yet again witness creations by new and veteran talent take on the ramps at Pragati Maidan. Designer Masaba Gupta will open the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week Autumn/Winter 2013, which will be held from March 13 to 17. Gupta, who is known for her quirky pop designs including her popular camera and cow prints, will show as part of label Satya Paul. She took over as the fashion director of the brand late last year. “As the brand’s fashion director, I am referencing a signature that has developed and become iconic over 27 years. But, simply by being the designer of this collection, I am putting a part of me into it. However, there will be a marked aesthetic difference,” Gupta told us when we asked if the shift will reflect in her collection.

Another young designer, Aneeth Arora, has bagged her first solo show at the fashion week, after proving her creative mettle with her label, Péro. “There will be more pressure since this is the first time I’m doing a solo show. But, it gives me more freedom to express myself. I have more space for choreography, it will be more elaborate, the models won’t have to rush to change into another collection — so that way, it’s great,” she said.
