Former member of Parliament Satya Pal Jain has urged the union government not to demolish the houses of any poor person, without providing them alternative accommodation.  He has urged the government to allow the residents of Janta Nagar, Manimajra, whose houses were demolished a few days back, to either allow them to construct their houses at the same place or provide them alternative accommodation.

In a letter to the union home minister along with a memorandum submitted by the residents of Manimajra, Jain has said, 'these people are residing in these houses for the last 20-25 years, they have the registered sale deeds and even the mutations have been sanctioned by the government departments in their favour. Still the government demolished their houses, a few days back, inspite of all assurances from the local Congress (I) minister, that the government will not touch their houses.'

Jain said that the bulldozer of the Congress (I) government targets only the jhuggies and small houses of the poor people and does not bother about similar things undertaken by big builders and colonizers.
