The meteorological department has predicted more rain in the next 48 hours, which may spell trouble for the wheat crop.
"Prolonged rain can lead to yellow rust disease in wheat," said Ashwani Kumar, agriculture development officer.
The commuters also had to face tough time in boarding their buses for their various destinations as the local bus stand and the commercial market between the bus stand and the district administrative complex virtually turned into a pond.
The bus stand submerged in knee-deep water. Though the bus stand earns annual revenue of Rs. 2 crore, it lacks basic infrastructure and civic amenities.
Waterlogged roads stranded many vehicles on city roads. Several city areas, including Model Town, bus stand, Leela Bhawan, Chhoti Baradari and Arya Samaj, also faced waterlogging.
The maximum temperature saw a dip and was recorded at 17.6 degrees Celsius. Though the rainfall increased the minimum temperature, heavy winds brought back the winter chill.
