Brisbane recruitment consultant and South Brisbane District Cricket Club second-grade paceman Rhys Yorke ended a remarkable weekend when he took three wickets in three balls on Saturday, only to repeat the feat on Sunday during a domestic cricket game. The left-arm fast bowler, Yorke scaled cricket’s version of Mount Everest against Valleys and returned to the summit once more against the Sunshine Coast, News.com.au reports.

Yorke said on the first day, he just hit three blokes on the pads in a row and they were all given out leg before wicket, adding the good thing was that he thought all three were absolutely plumb.

Yorke called his dad Peter to tell him about the hat-trick, but celebrations were put on hold because Souths had a one-day semi-final the next day and jaws dropped when history repeated.

Yorke said his third wicket was probably the best ball he has ever bowled, adding it swung in late and hit the batsman on the pads. To show how rare the achievement is, only three players have taken two hat-tricks in the 2072 Tests dating back to 1877.
