The Batala police claim to have solved the murder of a NRI woman, Kuldeep Kaur, with the arrest of victim's drug-addict neighbour, Lovepreet Singh.
Kuldeep was found murdered at her house in Nandeyianwali village under the Fatehgarh Churrian police station on January 30. The police detained the accused on suspicion as he was not on good terms with the victim and during questioning he confessed to the crime. Lovepreet told the police that he was angry with Kuldeep as she would often object to his taking drugs and decided to eliminate her.

Police said on January 30 Lovepreet sneaked into Kuldeep's room and killed her using a sharp-edged weapon.

Earlier, on the complaint of victim's father, Savrain Singh, the police had lodged a murder case against victim's sister-in-law Paramjeet Kaur, her son Taranpreet Singh and Ranjeet Singh.
