Punjab Congress president Capt Amarinder Singh walked through the main markets in Moga on Friday evening for over an hour and talked to the people there, who while extending heartiest welcome to him, listed their problems.
The PPCC president took everybody by surprise when he instantly stopped in the main market here and got down the car. He started walking in the market much to the surprise of the people. The security staff of the former chief minister had to do a tough job controlling the people who surrounded him and wanted to shake hands with him. A number of people also stopped him to get photographed with him.

He was accompanied by election in-charge Rana Gurjeet Singh, Chaudhary Santokh Singh, Milkiat Singh Beermi and others.

The people were overwhelmed as he went into various shops and talked to the shopkeepers and people walking by. Some people also raised slogans in his support. He said he had come to meet them and enquire about their problems.

While the people complained against the government, their anger was mainly directed at SAD-BJP candidate Joginder Pal Jain, who deserted the Congress and defected to the Akali Dal. Most of the people the PPCC president met complained to him that they had voted for Jain who had betrayed them.

One shopkeeper said no matter who was going to be the Congress candidate in Moga, he would vote to get Jain defeated so that he realised what it meant to betray the people's trust.

The people also complained about other day-to-day problems. "There was no electricity even during winters. People were upset with the property tax that the government has recently imposed," said a shopkeeper.

Capt Amarinder came across several youth who were highly educated but were unemployed. The former chief minister shared their concern saying, "People should use this chance to show their resentment against the government and Jain so that he learns a lesson as to what it means to betray his own people."
