The vintage inspired one-shoulder trend is hotting up the red carpet like never before. It seems to be the hot favourite of Bollywood’s divas who are showing off their well toned arms in elegant one-shoulder dresses and gowns. Right from Shilpa Shetty Kundra, Malaika Arora Khan, Sridevi to Dia Mirza have been spotted rocking the super stylish trend.

Style gurus give the one-shoulder outfits a big thumbs up. “One shoulder dresses were a rage in the 1920s. The style has made a comeback and is as popular now as the  little black dress”, says designer Nida Mahmood.

Designers say that one-shoulder dresses top the list of fashionistas who are a tad conservative when it comes to skin show. “It’s perfect for women who do not like to flaunt cleavage and yet want to look glamourous.” The style also works well for Indian body types, as it draws the gaze upwards, and away from a broad waist line. “It’s flattering for the Indian body types,” says designer Shantanu Mehra.

But designers do caution that one shouldn’t overdo the accessories when wearing a one-shoulder dress. Designer Reynu Taandon says, “Big earrings or a bracelet are enough. The idea is to keep the look clean and edgy.”

Rock the one shoulder look:
Go for a structured silhouette that flatters your body. Avoid layering when wearing a one-shoulder outfit
Keep your makeup subtle and light
Team up your one-shoulder dress with stilettos, peep toes or pumps.
