Style gurus give the one-shoulder outfits a big thumbs up. “One shoulder dresses were a rage in the 1920s. The style has made a comeback and is as popular now as the little black dress”, says designer Nida Mahmood.
Designers say that one-shoulder dresses top the list of fashionistas who are a tad conservative when it comes to skin show. “It’s perfect for women who do not like to flaunt cleavage and yet want to look glamourous.” The style also works well for Indian body types, as it draws the gaze upwards, and away from a broad waist line. “It’s flattering for the Indian body types,” says designer Shantanu Mehra.
But designers do caution that one shouldn’t overdo the accessories when wearing a one-shoulder dress. Designer Reynu Taandon says, “Big earrings or a bracelet are enough. The idea is to keep the look clean and edgy.”
