They protesters alleged political and police patronage to criminals in the Faridkot incident, and clalled for investigating the role of politicians, police officials, and jail authorites, since the abduction was brazen, and later, the main suspect had received mobile phone inside the prison.
"Male domination in society is responsible for the suppression of women from the womb to the end of their life," said Kuldeep Kaur Kussa, a trade-union activist. "Women without financial resources cannot hope to assert her gender equality right. "The role of the police isn't much encouraging in dealing with crimes against women," said Sukhdev Singh, another trade-union leader addressing the gathering at Faridkot.
The marchers also condemned some religious leaders for their views that had come out after the Delhi rape incident. Even girls were part of the protest rally.
