On Saturday, DSP Satish Malhotra had maintained that Jaswinder's employed had not mentioned a sopecific amount, but the theft was in lakhs of rupees. The employer Gurcharan Arora had told this reporter that he had lost Rs. 4-5 lakh by the theft from Jaswinder and his accomplices.
However, in the FIR (a copy is with HT) registered with city police station, the theft has been reported to be Rs. 10-12 lakh.
Officially, the police is yet to record the statement of Jaswinder, even though this reporter met and took his statement on Saturday.
Repeated calls to SHO (city) Parshotam Lal went unanswered. The mobile number of DSP (city) Satish Malhotra was switched off.
