To raise their demand of for increase in the Minimum Support Price (MSP) of Wheat, activists of four farmers organizations staged protest at deputy commissioner's office here on Monday.
Addressing the protesters Kisna Sabha leader Kartar Singh Bowani said that centre and state government were adopting anti farer policies which was leading many of the farmers to commit suicides in Punjab as well as other parts of country. 

Activists of Punjab Kisan Sabhas affiliated to communist party of India and communist party of India Marxist, Bharti Kissan Union Ekta (Sidhupur) and all India democratic party took part in the protest.

The speakers demanded that the MSP for wheat should be fixed at Rs1800 per quintal and an additional bonus of Rs. 150 per quintal on Wheat should be given to the farmers by the state government.

"This has become essential due to increase in the input costs like, Diesel, electricity and fertilizers. More over there has been exorbitant rise in prices of essential commodities which farmers have to use," said speakers.
