The alleged collusion between the CBI prosecutor and business firms involved in the 2G spectrum scam is all set to create uproar in the meeting of the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) on telecom on Tuesday. An agitated Opposition plans to seek explanations from CBI director Ranjit Sinha, who would be appearing before the panel on Tuesday.

"The new revelation is significant. I also heard that the CBI has already taken some action. But the members have a right to know if the actions were sufficient and proper. If the CBI doesn't give suo moto presentation on the issue, I think the matter may come up for discussion during Q&A session," JPC chairman PC Chacko told HT.

Even as Sinha's appearance before the panel to depose as a witness was scheduled much before the controversy broke out, it has given the opposition additional ammo at the JPC.

The JPC, had otherwise decided to conclude the deposition of witnesses on Tuesday and start preparing the draft report. But it now the opposition may seek more time to examine witnesses and call more people. "A new allegation, which is very serious in nature, has come up. We want the CBI to come clean on this," JPC member Gurudas Dasgupta said.
