The Supreme Court (SC) on Monday said the telecom firms, which opted out of the 2G auction held in November 2012, and unsuccessful bidders would not be allowed to continue with their service.

"You (Department of Telecommunication) have to take a position on those who have been unsuccessful in the auction conducted on November 12 and 13, 2012. They cannot be allowed to operate in the events when there are bidders who have been successful," said a bench of Justice GS Singhvi and Justice KS Radhakrishnan.

It said the auction would have to be done for all those 2G spectrum licences, for which letters of intent were issued on January 10, 2008 and later quashed by the SC on February 2, 2012.

CBI asked to file more documents by court
A Delhi court on Monday asked the CBI to place before it documents relating to a resolution passed by three telecom firms, including Airtel and Vodafone, seeking additional spectrum during the NDA regime.
