Though police has denied that the protesters were raising any anti national slogans, video footages showed they were carrying placards and shouting secessionist slogans and demanding the withdrawal of the army and the central security forces from Kashmir.
"Investigation is on and suitable action will be taken," said superintendent of police Dilip Singh Kunwar.
Later, saffron brigade workers and leaders gathered at the Dhara police post, where the students had been detained.
PDP on KashmirisMeanwhile, the Peoples Democratic Party said that the execution of Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru has reinforced the sense of denial of justice among Kashmiris.
Party president Mehbooba Mufti said the feeling among Kashmiris that they have been treated "differently and unjustly" has been vindicated by the "myopic handling" of Guru's case.
At present, there is a clear perception among people that Guru was hanged with political motives, and Kashmir has been made a pawn in poll politics.
