BBAU chancellor Navjivan Lal Lakhanpal, after a brainstorming meeting with vicechancellor RC Sobti, took a decision to this effect during his visit to the campus on Tuesday.
Sources said that during the course of the interaction many of the PG students pleaded that they be allowed to appear in the PhD entrance examination along with the final year PG exam. They were losing out a full academic year because of the earlier policy of the university.
The chancellor found the demand of the students to be genuine and took a call to let them take PhD entrance the same year when they take PG final examination. Hostel inmates of BBAU have been complaining about poor food quality and other facilities. The chancellor asked the vice-chancellor to explore the possibility of introducing a cooperative mess.
“If required, the university may provide some subsidy also so that students enjoy quality food in the hostel,” he said. The inmates may also have a common room, water cooler and purifier in every hostel, sources said.
