A local court on Tuesday issued notice to Kurukshetra member of Parliament Naveen Jindal for March 22 on an application of a Class 8 student of DAV Senior Secondary Public School, Surajpur, Panchkula, for allegedly insulting the national flag.
Deepanshu Bansal, who filed the case through his father and Indian National Lok Dal leader Vijay Bansal, told the court that he was shocked to go through the report, 'Jindal's pain relieving Tiranga bangles bogus?' in the Hindustan Times on February 5.

"As per the news report, Tiranga; the popular name of the National Flag is being misused by defendant no.1 (Jindal) for political and business purposes through defendant no 2 (Flag Foundation of India), which is prohibited under the prevention of insults to the national honour act, 1971, and the flag code of India," he said.

He said the alleged tall claims of Jindal made the newspaper reporter use the word bogus, which amounts to offering indignity to the flag. He said Jindal and the Flag Foundation of India were responsible for the same and deserved to be prosecuted.

It was stated in the application that all citizens of India are "equal before the law whether it is the defendant no.1 (Jindal) or a cobbler, as such by taking cue from the act of selling tiranga bangles any cobbler can start manufacturing tiranga shoes".

Bansal alleged that under the influence of American culture, Jindal had not only caused irreparable damage to the dignity and honour of the flag but also to the composite culture of the country by his acts.
