Fariz Mohammed of Tamil Nadu, who had ousted top seed Siddharth Rawat of Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday, made easy work of Kunal Anand, beating him 6-2, 7-6(4).

However, the best match of the day featured local player Rupesh Roy and Mohit Mayur Jayaprakash.

In a gruelling two-and-a-half hours, Roy took revenge for his last tournament's defeat to Mohit, beating him by the same 3-6, 7-6(4), 6-4 margin.
