Kulwinder Singh "Sona", a police constable under training in the city jurisdiction of Faridkot, who was arrested on a charge of raping a Class-9 student, was dismissed from service on Wednesday.
Nirmal singh Dhillon, inspector general of police in the Bathinda zone, issued the constable's dismissal order. The Faridkot police had arrested Kulwinder Singh and another man, Kuldeep Singh "Gaga", in the rape case.

Both are from Sukhan Wala village in Faridkot district. "Looking at the seriousness of the charge, I have dismissed the under-training police constable," said IG Dhillon.

The student was raped on Sunday night and the police had recovered her that evening from the suspect's car. She had been kidnapped before the crime.
