Aakash Valmiki, 22 and Naresh Naik, 21 were returning from CST on a Pulsar bike around 5pm.
According to the police, they were trying to overtake a Mercedes on a curve near Mandvi post office when they ended up hitting the car. Due to the impact of the collision, the duo ended up on the other side of the divider and were hit by an Innova.”
“The bike was badly damaged and both riders sustained multiple injuries. Valmiki was riding the bike and Naik was sitting pillion. They weren’t wearing helmets, ” said Dattatray Khuperkar, sub-inspector, Pydhonie police station.
Valmiki, a call centre employee, sustained fractures on his hands and leg, whereas Naik fractured his right leg.
The police have informed the families of the injured, who reside at Naigaon in Mumbai. The police are yet to record their statements.
A case has been registered against the biker under sections 279 (rash driving) and 338 (causing grievous hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others) along with sections of the Motor Vehicle Act.
