Sources said though the chargesheet was filed by the police in October, Anuradha Sharma hadn’t appeared before the court to record her statement.
“It is too early to make any comment but definitely she was the main witness and was the only one who had spoken to Kanda before Geetika’s suicide. On her basis of her statement, the case against Kanda was registered. But we have other witnesses to support the case,” a senior Delhi Police officer said.According to the police, Anuradha had called Kanda a day before Geetika had committed suicide as he was trying to get in direct touch with Geetika. Kanda had threatened her too.
But police said Anuradha was also close to Kanda’s family - both the families used to visit each other often. Kanda had even travelled to Mumbai with Geetika’s family members and they had together visited Shirdi. Sources said Kanda had also paid for Geetika’s admission for an MBA course. Sources said the suicide might have an impact on Haryana elections too as the incident has once again brought Kanda in the limelight. Kanda is an independent representative from Sirsa in Haryana.
“It has been over six months and people have started forgetting the incident. We were expecting Kanda to come out on bail soon but the suicide by Geetika’s mother might affect the political scenario in Haryana,” a close aide of Kanda said.
