The city woke up to a sudden change in weather and welcomed the onset of spring on Friday. Most parts of UP were lashed by heavy showers with Lucknow recording 6.4 mm rain. Wet weather conditions were likely to continue for the next 24 hours with thunder squall and hailstorm at isolated places across Uttar Pradesh, said the weatherman. “Expect clear sky from Sunday,” said JP Gupta, director, state meteorological department.

Showers brought down the mercury with Lucknow recording a maximum temperature of 20 degrees, which was six degrees below normal. The minimum, however, was 11.2 degrees.

The Met said the minimum temperature would hover around the 12-degree mark in Lucknow during the next 24 hours.

Bahraich and Kanpur had a maximum of 17.6 (9 notches below normal) and 19.2 degrees (8 degrees below normal) respectively.

Allahabad and Kanpur experienced the maximum rainfall of 8 mm while Bahraich, Fursatganj, Jhansi, Barabanki, Banda, Orai and Hamirpur were also drenched.
