There was a time when it was all about the ‘it’ bag. They ruled fashion and every few weeks there was a new must have. Over the past few seasons the focus has moved down — now it is all about shoes.
Many women plan what they wear according to their shoes.
From bondage to the
cuffed sandal, shoes can make your most seducing statement. But, they can also be your style downfall.
A shoe can really be the make or break of your look. So, make sure you are always putting the correctly dressed foot forward
Thanks to their patent for ‘Biomimetix’ and Microwobbleboard, they are both comfortable and help you get slimmer as you walk and so have become many a girl’s best friend. This is not necessarily a good thing. Luckily, they have progressed from the original slipper style (which despite it’s unflattering look seems to be inspiring many a local cobbler), to sandals and canvas ballerinas — they are strictly for casual wear. Great ‘run around’ footwear, they add a dress down to any outfit — so they do not work for the office or in the evening. Even if they do come with rhinestones and sequins, no amount of bling turns the fitflop formal.
These are the most comfortable way to wear heels and have thankfully made a comeback. They have a clumpy even clumsy look, and go best with trousers or maxi dresses. Some wedges can lack a feel of elegance, so choose with care, or you’ll look like as if you are auditioning for the part of Ugly Betty.
These are perfect for summer. They allow the feet to breathe. Very strappy styles lend themselves to casual affairs, but gladiator styles are now passé. When wearing open shoes remember to have feet worth showing. Pedicures are mandatory. Hosiery is not meant to be worn with sandals or peep toes and there’s nothing worse than wearing opaque black tights and metallic evening sandals. Whole point of hosiery is to keep feet covered and warm, so wear shoes that go with that thought, pumps for instance.
Blush Stiletto remains a favourite. Look out for spazzolato too (brushed leather) and patent styles. A high heel can instantly make you slim and add sensuality, but there
are times when they don’t work. Only wear heels you know you can walk in. There is also a time and place for them — shopping in heels is hazardous. The office is not the place for stilettos. Love heels, but remember the higher they are, the more special the occasion needs to be.
