A 21-year-old has alleged that Punjab Khadi and Gram Udyog superintendent has been harassing his mother, a clerk with the board for over ten years. He alleged that charge sheet had been pending for over 10 years, after their family refused to bribe the officer.
Parteek Singh, son of the
clerk Amarjeet Kaur, said: "My mother took leave from April 11-20, 2003, to go abroad for my father's treatment. An objection was later raised hat why prior-permission to visit abroad was not sought by the board. To resolve the matter, the superintendent Davinder Singh demanded Rs.
50,000 as bribe to which our family refused to pay," he said.
He claimed that Amarjeet had taken prior permission for leave, but the superintendent had been harssing them after creating objections on one pretext or the other.
"We had even got prior permission for going abroad on March 24, 2003, at least 18 days before availing the leave and the district village and industries officer had approved the application. The said superintendent failed to present it for approval in time."
"Since then several objections had been raised by board authorities to my mother's claims of reimbursement. On July 13, 2012, the board had sought the details of medical bills against which the payment of Rs. 93,000 had been released to us in 2009. Due to pending enquiry, all the promotional benefits have been stopped," he said.
"If anything happens to my mother, it will be solely because of harassment by the superintendent Davinder Singh."
When contacted, superintendent Davinder Singh said: "The allegations are baseless. I have no grudges aainst any employee. A decision on her charge sheet has been delayed due to the board, which comprises 13 directors. I have been presenting the file for approval of higher authorities since long, but the case has always drawn objhections from borad directors."
