Panjab University vice-chancellor Dr Arun Grover conferred 760 degress to graduate and postgraduate students (2009-10) of the DAV College on Sunday. Principal Dr. BB Sharma declared the convocation open and honored the chief guest. The VC read out the convocation and emphasied the importance of research. He said that Jalandhar colleges should form clusters at their own level and start six-moth courses to prepare the students for Phd.

He said that academic environment should be created in the colleges for promoting research based education. He talked about the contribution of eminent teachers of Punjab in promoting education over the past 150 years.

Grover, who is an alumnus of the college, also shared his experience and journey. Seven professors from the college who recently completed their Phd were also honoured. Dr. Kiranjeet (History), Dr. Manu Sood (Physical Education),Dr. Ashok Kumar (Punjabi), Dr. Rakesh Sharma (History), Dr. Anoop Kumar (English), Dr. Sanjay Sharma (Biotech) and Dr. Sumiti Kalia (Biotech) were the ones on the honours list.
