Akshay Kumar has a new record to his name. The actor has reportedly become the first Bollywood star to earn Rs. 2,000 cr from his films so far.

The 45-year-old has hit the figure after working in 105 films since his debut film, Saugandh, in 1991. The buzz around Akki’s earnings started over the weekend when  #Akshay 2000 crore started trending on Twitter.

The actor, too, tweeted, “Honestly blessed to have you all Akkians in my life. Special thanks to my fan clubs who support me so much selflessly time & again. Thank you for the #Akshay2000crore tag only possible coz of you all.”

However, trade experts say that the reported record does not indicate that Akki is bigger than the Khans. “An actor is as good or as bad as his/her last film and  currently Salman is on top.

It is a good milestone, but we have to agree that Akshay is not the top most brand at the moment,” says trade analyst Taran Adarsh.

“Akshay does 5-6 films per year and that is why he has an advantage in terms of quantity, whereas Aamir does one film a year or even in two years,” adds trade expert Atul Mohan. “Who has verified this? I won’t be surprised if this whole thing has been started by Akshay or some  fan,” says trade analyst Komal Nahta.
