Condemning the management of Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) for its 'casual' approach to the genuine demands of engineers, the PSEB Engineers' Association has demanded rationalisation of the work-load norms.
“Delay in revision of norms is affecting the supervisory control of engineers and performance of the PSPCL, thus impacting consumer services adversely,” secretary (organization) of the association stated in a meeting, He added that instead of solving the issue, the management had taken a 'strange' decision to refer the issue to state government, even though it had powers to take a decision.

With the implementation of Right to Service Act, Standards of Performance, RTI Act, there was an urgent need for rationalisation of work-load norms, he added.

The association also criticized the large number of disciplinary cases initiated against engineers on flimsy and trivial issues.  "The issue of outsourced vehicles has also not been resolved so far and has been kept pending for the last two years,” he said. He added that under the existing norms fixed for outsourcing vehicles, no contractor was willing to provide his services to the PSPCL.
