It was on NGO CPIL’s petition that the SC had directed a court-monitored CBI probe and also cancelled the 122 licences of "ineligible companies" that were allocated 2G spectrum during A Raja's tenure.
The CPIL's application also wants examination of the statements made by prosecution witnesses before the trial to ascertain any nexus between the prosecution and key corporate accused.
“This is important as there is a danger of the collapse of the entire trial against the accused," stated the application.
Seeking a direction to the CBI to send the tapes of the conversation to a truth lab, the NGO alleged the agency had not filed an FIR into the revelations made in the sting operation.
The NGO said the tapes were in the government labs and it was easy for “political leadership” to obtain convenient reports.
